Minneapolis/Saint Paul MN - In the midst of record cold wave

In the midst of a record cold wave and temps.  Going to be below 0F from about 11PM Monday until Friday AM.
At the moment, we are sitting at -22F with a -50F windchill - and the wind just keeps blowing.
Was a great sunny day and has turned out to be a bit of an eerie evening.
I took advantage of our skyway system to get out and wander around and even appreciate the skyway areas without heat - much, much better than being outside.

Saint Paul MN - The birthday dinner

Annual tradition of gathering with Jim and Mike to celebrate our birthdays happened once again.
Certainly the nicest night of the last few and the nicest of the next week as well - timed things well.
Always lots of conversation and good laughs.

Saint Paul MN - Mac Dinner and Niketh's Birthday

A cold night and a full lunar eclipse for dinner with the Mac guys before the next term begins.  And it was Niketh's birthday weekend as well.

Minneapolis MN - Sunken Egyptian exhibit at MIA

A plan was hatched with our small New Year's Eve crew and today we executed.  Spent the morning enjoying the Egyptian Exhibit at Minneapolis Institute of Art.

Bethesda MD - Aunt Liz Celebration Day 3

One more day - but the sun was out and the snow was starting to melt.
Time to head to the church, cemetery and back to house for one more celebration - and a small gathering over dinner later that night.
The temps crept up to 40 so the melting was melting fast.  And off tomorrow.

Bethesda MD - Aunt Liz Celebration Day 2

Full house to celebrate and wake Liz in her home.
The snow kept coming.  Time was made to get out and build forts and snowmen as well.

Washington DC - Erin and Megan do DC

We woke up to the ongoing snow.
No reason to let a government shutdown or the never ending snow to stop a trip to central Washington DC to check things out and see what's going on.
No snow angels but plenty of wandering and slogging through the weather.
And Eileen and Evie played Uber drivers and met us from time to time for a warm up before the next stop.
First time I have done DC in the snow as well - a very different perspective without all the green and blue skies as a backdrop.
