Sydney Australia - Great night to walk home

It was a perfect late summer/early fall day in Sydney - and I spent the day inside working.
Had the time to walk home over the Harbour Bridge and take in the lovely evening and the great views along the way.
I have a night painting at my house of the harbour in the evening.  It always looks just like a photo - and definitely just like tonight.

Stillwater MN - I was just not cool enough to join this crowd for Easter 2014

And Petar must have been just too cool.........

Sydney Australia - ANZAC Day Weekend

Long weekend in Australia celebrating ANZAC Day on Friday.
I flew in to a rainy Sunday - but been off for almost two weeks so I was good hanging out and resting.

Bangkok Thailand - Always busy and thriving place

Like Hong Kong, Bangkok is a city with packed streets and lots of people everywhere.  That being said they have two completely different styles and rhythms.
Bangkok has a more friendly approach to it all.  In Bangkok when you are backed in the metro train during Friday night rush hour and the temp is sky high and the humidity higher people smile, bow and make room for you to squeeze in before the door closes.
It is a hard place to not be in a good mood - and very easy to relax and take it all in.

Bangkok Thailand - A nice steamy 38C when I arrived

I have to admit for all my flying I get off on time, or close, on a very regular basis.  And haven't had too many bad flights.  Had the 2.5 hour layover for this one - the length of the flight so it was like double.
Got in to Bangkok well in to the evening and it was still plenty hot and steamy.  And it just warmed right up again right away in the morning.
Bangkok is a place where you always find something you least expected just around a corner - and it makes no sense for it to be there.  Or it is so out of place with everything else around it.
Have been mostly catching a few sights on the way to and from meetings - a bit of wandering time again before I head off to Sydney on the weekend.

Hong Kong - dinner in Sai Kung

Long weekend in Hong Kong.
Very quiet around the neighborhood - most people got out so easy to enjoy hanging out and wander.  The tourist areas were still stuffed full with visitors from the mainland and beyond.
Michele is back after some surgery in Australia and settling back in to life in Hong Kong.
Our friend Jose stared a new job in the Sai Kung part of the New Territories - still part of HK.  We all hopped a taxi and headed off for the 45 minute ride.
It is a lovely place to land.  Right on the water.  Very few high rises and lots of people out enjoying the lovely beaches.
Dinner was truly a Spanish experience - felt like I was back in Madrid.

Beijing China - A smoggy trip once again

Another trip back to Beijing.  I still continue to be awed and amazed every time I walk in to the International Airport here.  It is one amazing, massive and awesome to take in.  It is always the beginning of the "big" experience that everything tends to be in the new Beijing.  And lots of interesting attire was part of the adventure as well.
To see things more to scale like the rest of the world you only need to wander behind all the new buildings to the old, local neighborhoods.  Easy and safe so I always take the opportunity to explore when I can wander between meetings.
It was a medium to miserable smog level this trip.  And the traffic was certainly full on - we sat for an hour at 11am on the main highway and didn't move a mile.
