Birthday 2010....the videos

Stillwater, and Sydney - birthdays, birthdays and more birthdays

The 20th annual birthday dinner for Dan and me got more interesting in 2010. We had it a bit earlier so we landed right on Sister Lucille's birthday weekend as well.
Davide joined us for the first time and his birthday arrives this week as well. He and Dan Sandor are both celebrating number 20.
And as we were celebrating in Stillwater they were BBQing in Sydney to celebrate Richard's 70th - and tasting some great bottles of Australian wine as well. The wonders of skype got us all connected and laughs were had on both sides of the Pacific Ocean.
Mary went all out and brought the perfect gift...this is according to the shop keeper anyway! And everyone had a turn behind the camera lense as the evening went on....and yes the crooked ones were Mary....and yes she was drinking wine....

New York - Always a great spot to be in January

Always something new in New York City.

This trip we had the hotel surrounded by people with guns. Must have been someone important running around. They just let me wander on by and check in.

International Squash tournament set up and running in Grand Central Station.

A great friend from Moscow taking in the city for the first time.

Cool, crisp sunny days.

A piano bar that brings back the craziness and memories of the old Klondike Kate Casinos.

And a dance competition in the hotel for the weekend. A hotel full of mothers and their dancing girls. Picture "Fran Dresher, the Nanny, doubled with 2 girls in training and you know what I had next door and I know every word they said....and when they ramped back up at 6am on Saturday morning and volume 20 it was almost too much. And how is it that most sentences started with "it is none of my business but...I was so tempted to bang on the ajoining door and let them know it wasn't and they should shut up. But I would suspect if they shut up they would explode.

Home to rain and puddles among the snow and a great evening with friends.

Saint Paul - Let it snow...now let it melt

Saint Paul - Plenty of laughs at Marys....shut up Lorne!

The weather warmed up, Mary cleaned and lit the candles, everyone arrived to lots of laughs, hearty conversation and good disagreements - just as it should be with old, dear friends. Oh - and yes, Lorne...shut up!

at last, the end of 2009 - on to 2010 with great expectations

Once again we gathered to bring in the new year...although, as is always the case, we were all settled in at home well be for the clock struck 12.
Carly's cooking adventures to provide dessert and the gurgling pitcher may have been the highlights of the evening - until Millie called basking in the El Salvadore heat.
Good bye 2009...for all a new and improved 2010!
