Harar is a nice sized place but at its core and in the center is The Walled City. It is still a living part of the city in every way but also a place with lots of history. 5 gates, all with different meanings/stories let you in and out.
We had a parade coming down the street as we got started and also ran across a 5k run that was starting at one of the gates and heading elsewhere from there.
