Dusseldorf Germany - the summer heat has arrived on the Rhine
Things have finally warmed up in Europe. Beautiful day today but the keeps rising every day.
I got to the "Old Town Area" of Dusseldorf today. Most of it was blown up during WWII. They rebuilt on the same foundations so it still has the feel of an old European City.
Dusseldorf sits right on the edge of the Rhine River and, like every where else I have been in Germany, is filled with bike paths to get your everywhere in the city. And there are beautiful parks that fill the banks of both sides of the river - made for a great walk back to the hotel.

Dusseldorf Germany - just like every other suburb?
Arrived in Dusseldorf for a quick stop on my way to Amsterdam.
This stop was put together at the last minute before I left and I wasn't paying much attention to where I was landing. I have a preference for staying in the center city area so I can get out and walk and enjoy the sites a city has to offer - never found a hotel along a highway that appealing but often have found them convenient.
Anyhow, I am at a great hotel with a pool that I took full advantage of. And I am sitting on the outdoor patio enjoying a bbq dinner and listening to four American women whine about the wait staff not speaking English in Germany - gotta love it. But the "love" Germany.
The funny part is as I look around it looks like I could be sitting in the suburban Twin Cities or any other American suburb - probably why they didn't understand her language issue. Probably would have been more understanding if she spoke Spanish......
Hopefully, I get some time before my flight out to wander the 2 miles along the river to the Old Town Area of the City.

Munich Germany - Summer as it should be
Perfect day to be out and it sure seemed like everyone was - lots of people in the center of Munich today.
Today I wandered by a few of the places we biked by last night - won't have time to capture them all. But that gives me one more reason I need to get back to take in more of the city.
And we planned dinner in an indoor spot but the weather suggested we belonged in a traditional beer garden under the trees enjoying the day with everyone else - great evening out.
I had never been to Germany before 2012 and will head to my fourth city in Germany tomorrow afternoon.

Munich Germany - Clemens, family and a bike ride
Zoomed in to town and headed right out to enjoy an evening with Clemens and his family.
We all biked to the local beer garden and had a lovely meal sitting next to the lake.
As evening was closing in Clemens and I headed out again for an evening tour of Munich - 2 hours later finished the route and most of what there is to see - good thing we didn't stop for pictures or we would still be out there.
And I bet you didn't know that surfing at night in the heart of Munich is a regular activity that people come from far and wide to do
Great fun to meet the Pilgram family and get the grand tour a local expert.
