Twin Cities Metro - Checking out the churches and temples

There are always lots of options to celebrate the Fourth of July. Not everyone goes searching out the local Russian Orthodox Church and the Hindu Temple. Both interesting spots.
We drove through the rain storms and found one open and welcoming and the other one still on our list for another day.
And once you start looking for churches you start seeing churches on corner after corner Which leads to the question of how good or bad we Minnesotans must be to need so many varied places of worship and atonement.

Saint Paul - Fourth of July BBQ the perfect night outside

We celebrated the Fourth an evening early to take advantage of the perfect night. Warm, sunny and no bugs. We lasted outside throughout the whole evening...a rarity by this time of year once the moisquitos take over.

Dallas Texas - more

I didn't sweat enough day one so wandered around again in the hundred degree heat and humidity. Always another street that hasn't been seen. And in the case of Dallas another new building to be seen.

Dallas Texas - the cows

Wow.
Dallas has a flashy modern convention center. It wraps around an old center city cemetery.
At the far corner of the cemetery there is a sloping hill that comes down to a pond. There is a grouping of sculptures that depicts the western cowboys and moving cattle across the prairie.
What makes it so amazing is it is not only large in size but also large in scope. The sculptures are oversized and there must be 50 unique cattle sculputures winding down this hill to the pond - with varying cowhands as well.
Quite the site when you come upon it.

Dallas Texas - a mix of old and new

Downtown Dallas is always interesting. It is full of big, new and beautiful buildings but you see very few people on the streets. They have an underground walkway system that protects people from the heat, and there is plenty of that this week, but still it seems like there should be more. It is much the same in many other cities including my own.
Hot and humid in true Texas style.
I always enjoy the mix of interesting old Dallas structures surviving between the new and the flashy skyscrapers.
And since I am one of the few wandering outside in the sweltering heat it feels like I have it all to myself.
