I decided it was worth heading all the way down to Yuma on the way to Palm Springs - the long route for sure. And well worth it.
So interesting to see this part of the USA. The geography is fascinating - it changes as you go and the changes again. The Colorado River dictates so much of what happens in all the spots you travel here.
Also, so interesting to see how people live in this part of the country. In many ways it is so remote and so empty. But there is a whole world of people that live in probably the widest range of options available - from grandiose homes to tents all alone in the middle of nowhere with a tumbleweed or cactus nearby.
After a long stretch through the mountain area it was wowing to get close to Yuma and all of a sudden have green on both sides of the road as far as I could see. It continued to be true for large stretches of my trip to Palm Springs out of Yuma. Another spot that feeds America.
