Headed west to Clarkfield for another Art Meander. We headed in another direction and made a full day of it.
We set Browns Valley as an early target to check out the Laurentian Continental Divide - a small rise in the land determines whether the water move north or south. There is a spot north of town where the Little Minnesota River flows south towards the Mississippi and on to the Gulf of Mexico and across the way the Red River flows north to Hudson Bay.
To mix things up we took the South Dakota route north and they we could follow the Minnesota River as we headed back south.
On our way to South Dakota we took another diversion to Dawson MN the "gnome capital".
I was in Milbank SD in the late 80s for a work project so that was reason enough to check it out once again.
