Off to Rome. Started the morning in the station that Mussolini built - one grand place. Three hours of beautiful countryside and then right in the heart of Rome. A much less grand and elegant station in Rome but plenty more to see outside the door.
The marathon had a loop and the finish right near the largest most famous church in Venice. It didn't open until later in the day and we anticipated a long line once it did. So we had it as an option but wandered on and found more than enough other amazing churches, theaters and whatever else to take in and enjoy. A full day for sure.
