Moscow - must be home it was just another week.....

It was just another week here.............must be starting to feel like home.
The week started in the 30sC and was hot and sticky. By Wednesday it was sitting around 3C and raining and raining. And over the weekend it added some wind. It was like 3C - 7C Abbey! Killed my 3 Euro umbrella I picked up in Madrid in May. So like any other regular weekend had to go shopping. And nothing comes cheap in Moscow.
Here is a day to day thing that for you to enjoy - getting your hair cut. Picture getting a hair cut with only hand signals and noises - no real words. I have gotten used to it in several languages - not that cutting my hair is all that tough! But a good adventure each time. I thought she was done and I was trying to explain she hadn't cut it off the top yet. She just wanted to blow all the loose hairs out of my face - we finally figured it out and she almost laughed.......not always the easiest thing for a Russian.
Finally got to the park across the street - wow a nice surprise. Lots of trees. I should explain this a bit. The way things work in Moscow is that there a big huge SUPER BLOCKS with lots of buildings built all around the edges. And then the best way to describe it is there is another world in the middle of each SUPER BLOCK. Some are more interesting than others. You are sort of going into the local neighborhood when you wander in. I live in one as well. Some are more interesting and surprising than others. The one across the street is a full fledge park!
I don't think I have put up a pic of the new apartment - that is the top pic. Typical looking building. I am on the third level on the far right.
The apartment sits on a major artery in and out of the center - 10 lanes. About a block north is the third ring that circles the city - another 10 lanes or more. Included a shot on the third ring - quiet Sunday. Things were stopped.
With the rain this week the roads were a mess. One of the drivers was taking someone to the airport one day and three hours later was still sitting in the center of the city. If you go at 3am, which I have, it takes about 35/40 minutes to the S airport. It can take all day on a bad day.
Went to dinner at a restaurant that is designed to look like a nice old soviet style house with a menu to match - but the prices were very today! It was quite cool. We had a great time - and lovely food. Will go back again.
I love ordering soup here - never have been disappointed. And yes Borscht is as good as you would expect it to be. But so are all the rest.
Got plenty of miles in on my feet this weekend but also spent much more time in the metro - a place I wish I could take more pictures. They don't like it when you do so I just let it go. Each stop is a bit of an architectural wonder or at least has some interesting art - worth stopping and going WOW!
