Long Branch NJ - Christmas 2008 East Coast Style

We had a crowd but we didn't have everyone. The balance celebrated at Ed's with a bit of East Coast Style!

Rochester MN - Christmas 2008

Chaos, noise, and lots and lots of fun. We figured out seating for 26 and one high chair......and Santa arrived right on schedule!

Saint Paul - Gathering with old friends

We braved the cold, wind and snow and met up at Sue and Judy's for great food, thoughtful conversation and many laughs. We accused Jim of falling asleep on the couch and forgetting us - unfortunately he was ill and unable to join the festivities. Not sure he really appreciated our call singing "we wish you a merry christmas".

Saint Paul - Celebrating Mary's Promotion

I was invited to crash a small gathering to celebrate Mary's promotion. Everyone slid in with stories of the road and Linda entertained us with all the "rules of Linda".

Minneapolis - Cold and Christmasy

It seems like all the warmth and rain is sitting in Moscow and all the cold, wind and snow is in Minnesota this year. It has been cold and messy since I arrived back - it feels like Christmas and winter. Although, a few days early.

Moscow -

My life has been very much "in the fire participant" of the current worldwide financial crisis over the last couple months.
Flew out of Moscow early this morning. We were driving at 4 am. So only a 20 minute trip. I have sat in the car with Sergey 2 hours at times coming and going from Sheremeteyvo - and even that isn't a long trip.
As I have mentioned before, Moscow is always at its best in the dark. Everything is lit and glows. And with the addition of holiday trees and lights it glows even brighter.
I expect it will be some time before I make the trip back again. As we landed in Amsterdam I had all those reminders of flying with Russians that I will miss - the clapping when the plane lands and the gettting up and pulling out your luggage as soon as the plane has hit the ground and barely begun moving towards the terminal.
It is almost a year ago that I made my first trip to Russia. It grows on you.

Moscow - New Year Trees popping up all over

Russian don't really celebrate until New Years and then celebrate on through Epiphany.
The decorations come up later. This week the New Year Trees began to shoot up everywhere.
